Wanderlust Snowshoe 2019

The Shavers Fork is one of eight rivers that begins in Pocahontas County and it's headwaters begins right here at Snowshoe. The Shavers Fork is 88.5 miles long, over 97% of it is forested and mostly lies within the Monongahela National Forest. On this out and back, backcountry hike you'll see flowing landscape most visitors to Snowshoe never see. Not only will you experience beautiful cascades, but the trail follows one of the original railroad grades used in the area, dating back over 150 years ago. Remnants of pasty history are scattered along the forest floor, but are slowly being disguised with vegetation.

Helpful Info: Large sections of the trail are full sun. Expect light scrambling and possible wet/muddy conditions. Stream levels could fluctuate depending on local rain amounts. Sandals are not advised for this hike.
