NaiAsana: Exploring Spirals, Rhythm, and Universal Flow Patterns in Yoga
Limited Capacity seats available

NaiAsana™ yoga is a unique somatic healing practice weaving in both dance and flow arts, to cultivate harmony through a deeper connection with the cycles, rhythms, and elements of the natural world. From the cell to the cosmos, the circle is the universal symbol of unity, while the spiral is the essence of the feminine - both divine and earthly. Both are undeniably the most prevalent shapes found in nature. Yet, the vast majority of modern yoga styles follow a more linear, often rigid, format. It is also well known that most asana-lineages have been predominantly male-influenced. In this class, we open to the inquiry of how feminine qualities bring strength and balance to the practice, for both women and men.

Both on and off the mat, this vinyasa of spiral, rhythmic and cross-body movement patterns, often incorporating playful props such as poi or the hula hoop, allows effortless, joyful, restoration and repattering of the nervous system. When we use this quality of more circular fluid movement, we discover a way to work with the body's inherent wisdom, rather than against it. In this way, not only does the NaiAsana practice help individuals discover new, often ecstatic, ways of moving, but also provides many therapeutic benefits.

The principles of NaiAsana are rooted in the ancient Vedic Kosha system, elemental wisdom, divine feminine teachings, embodied play, and neuroscience. Come celebrate the fire within as you discover new realms of creative expression and beauty that transforms.

Soul Flow Poi-Dancing Fundamentals
Limited Capacity filling up

Poi-dancing is an ancient movement and performance art with roots in the Polynesian culture. Modern poi-dancing involves swinging tethered weights, and sometimes fire, in various rhythmic, synchronized, geometric patterns.

This Soul Flow Poi™ class weaves the basics of poi with yoga and dance into a soulful movement meditation and playful inquiry of the Self. Harmonizing with our hearts and awakening the sacred, sensual, feminine, in us all, we will let the dance be the teacher of our true nature, honoring the natural cycles and rhythms that are universal to all Life. As a transformative and healing somatic practice, powerfully restoring and re-patterning the nervous system, we will leap gracefully into new, expanded ways of moving, thinking, and being. With each new move, we will ignite sparks of empowered and inspired flow. Come celebrate the fire within as you discover new realms of creative expression and beauty that transforms.

Class Flow:
15 min playful and sensual warm-up with yoga, dance and introduction to poi movements
12 min seated guided meditation, sharing of context (cultural and spiritual), brief chanting
50 min breakdown and practice of choreographed poi-dance sequence
12 min community flow and closing

Poi will be provided.
Class time devoted to lecture: 5-10 minutes
